Magento 2 Has Finally Been Released
The next generation of the Magento commerce platform is finally here. Both the open source Community Edition and the licensed Enterprise Edition of Magento 2.0 is now available. The platform has long been in production, with a lot of anticipation surrounding its release, but it’s finally ready for the rest of us to get our hands dirty using it.

Magento 2 offers better performance capabilities, the big one being faster page load times. There is also additional support for enterprise-level sites where traffic and order volume scales as it grows.

User checkout is now much quicker and easier with minimized steps and required information for finalizing transactions. The built in responsive design themes now help merchants unify user experience across various devices. There is also a new product video feature and responsive reference themes.
Agility and Productivity Improvements
To ensure that merchants can efficiently manage their products, there is now a simplified admin user interface which offers:

The new modular architecture of Magento 2.0 will dramatically decrease the effort needed for Merchants to make future platform upgrades. This is expected to be released quartlery beginning in Q1 2016.
Tiered Licensing Model
Magento is moving to a new tiered licensing model that will provide greater flexibility for clients. It will also help to better align merchants future commerce needs. This new pricing model will be going into effect January 1, 2016.
